4 Incredible Waterfalls Around Prince George, BC to see with Kids

Do you love waterfalls? I absolutely adore waterfalls and chasing waterfalls is one of my favourite pass times. If I’m going to go for a hike, I want a view or a waterfall at the end of my trip.

Last summer that’s exactly what we did, and here’s a few really amazing waterfalls in the Prince George area you should go check out because they are awesome and you can get to them with kids in tow (mostly).

These are all hikes and not stroller friendly. Be prepared to pack kids in and out. Some are shorter and some are longer. You best know your children.

Ancient Forest

Follow the trail to the left and then up to find the waterfalls at the Ancient Forest. The trail is mostly boardwalk, but not recommended for strollers due to steps. It’s a relatively short climb to the falls and a worthy adventure because they are just gorgeous. Make the trip, pack a lunch, and don’t forget your bear bell.

Hixon Falls

This short and sweet walk just within the town of Hixon is a fun day adventure for families of all sizes. The walk is easy and short from the parking lot to the base of the falls.

Find a little spot on the beach, don’t forget your bug spray, and then stop for a burger and ice cream at the Hixon Burger Bar before leaving town.

Greer Creek Falls

This is my favourite find in the North. Greer Creek Falls is located in the Vanderhoof area but is a decent drive from Prince George. The trail is about 1.7km and easily doable carrying kids. Our oldest walked most of it but was then carried home as it’s a little long. The falls at the bottom is incredible. Pack a picnic, stay for a splash, and enjoy the hike it. Bailey blogged about this over at SimplyMomBailey.

War Falls

Another short hike but a long drive, War Falls is located North of Prince George near Carp Lake. This hike is only about 0.8 metres and takes you the most remarkable waterfall.

Unlike the other falls already mentioned, War Falls is wide not tall and narrow. From the viewing platform, you are just in awe of this incredible water structure and can’t help but fall in love with space. Bailey blogged about this over at SimplyMomBailey.
