Being a mom is hard. It’s draining, overwhelming and often lonely. There is joy and love, but sometimes, we get trapped in that and we just need to crawl out of the darkness. Whether you need to crawl out, or just need some support, or some friends, we’ve got your hook ups.
This post is dedicated to finding out where you can get mom support in Northern BC. Where are the mom groups? What kind of options are available in Northern Communities? If you know of something I don’t, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I’m only as good as my Facebook and Google investigative skills take me.
This was a special request from an Instagram mom. If there’s a post you want us to write, send us an email or contact us on our socials. We’d love to help you out. Better yet, if you have a story to share, let’s do it. Write for us and email hello [at] northernbcmoms [dot] ca.
I know there is a desperate need for support groups in the North. I’ve scoured Facebook groups, and chat forums, and Instagram. Everyone is looking for something whether it’s a single mom support, or learning disabilities, or just because, they need it. The problem is there are not enough volunteers to host, and commit to these groups. It’s terrifying to do it yourself, but if you want it, you can make it happen.
Seriously. Trust in yourself, and know that sometimes there will be no shows, and sometimes there will be dozens of people, but if you keep trying and showing up every day, you are offering something invaluable to your community. I urge you to try setting one up yourself.
Second Note: some of these things are just reoccuring group settings. Don’t underestimate the power of a drop in play space to find connections, and build that village you know you want.
