Moms of 3 are amazingly fierce women, and Allison is a charming, witty and strong mama you need to know.
Tell us about your family?
I have three great kids. Patricia (or Patty) who is 4 and fiercely independent and smart. Emily (Ems, Emmy, or Em) who is 2.5 and is a ball of energy and mischief. James (Jamesy or Baby J) who is almost 2 months old and little (big) chunky monkey.
What keeps you busy in life?
My kids, haha. Right now, I am at home full time with the kids. Gives me a whole new appreciation for daycare providers! When I don’t have a fresh baby, I work 40 hours a week in a dental office.
Describe yourself in one word?
What do you do in your ‘free time’?
I run a custom fabric business and do a lot of sewing. I usually have about a dozen projects on the go.
What is your favourite colour?
What is your favourite thing to make for dinner?
Something easy, usually pizza or hamburger helper.
What is your biggest challenge as a mom?
To not yell/lose my cool. I have anxiety that comes out as anger/rage. Now with three kids, I find it hard to manage my anxiety because mess and clutter also add to this. I end up yelling and then rage cleaning.
What do you want to teach your children?
Compassion, kindness and respect. I also want them to feel comfortable telling me anything, they don’t have to be ashamed or scared.
What do you find yourself always saying?
Please stop doing that.
What is your favourite thing about having young kids?
The fun events and activities that we can do, because honestly we never stopped wanting to them as adults but it gets frowned upon once you reach a certain age, haha.
How do you take care of you? What do you do for self-care?
Sewing. It is seriously my vice. I love creating things for my kids to wear and cherish.
Do you have mom guilt? What’s trips you up the most?
Boyyyyyyy do I. All that yelling hits me right in the mom guilt feels every night.
What’s something you need right now? How could a stranger help you?
Do you have a favourite event in Northern BC?
A celebration of Lights at the Railway Museum.
Where do you spend most of your days with the kids?
What’s something we might not know about you?
That I run a fabric business with my best friend.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Honestly, just the life that we have for ourselves. We don’t make tons of money but we are able to provide for our kids and keep a roof over their heads.
Where will we find you in 5, 10, 15 years?
Still in dentistry but probably living on the Hart in a bigger house.
Give someone you think deserves a shout out and why?
Hayley Ludwig deserves a shout out. She’s an amazing business partner and a more incredible mom. She’s doing an amazing job.
