My name is Chantelle and I am the owner and creator behind Kindness Krate, a Prince George gift box company.
I am a stay at home mom to two toddlers (3.5 and 2.5) who are 15 months apart, so life is busy, to say the least. I came from a job in the corporate world to being at home full time and the adjustment for me was difficult, I have so much fun with my kids but I was really missing the business element of using my brainpower for something other than cleaning up messes and breaking up fights.
Starting of Kindness Krate
Last year I was dreaming of and brainstorming a business that I could run from home that would be fulfilling and fun while making a bit of extra income on the side. Through the last 5 years, I have had many friends have babies and go through all sorts of things in life, and one of my favourite things to do in
those times was put together some goodies for them and drop them off at their houses just to brighten their days.
I am also a huge proponent of supporting local small businesses. The amount of time and effort that goes into each and every product is something that just can’t be replicated at the big box store level.
This is where the dream for Kindness Krate was born.
I wanted to incorporate and showcase local businesses while simplifying the gift giving a process for people so that they could support local and still bless their friends with ease all at the same time.
Gifts are one of my favourite things, not only receiving them but selecting and planning out that perfect gift for someone.
When I get a custom order from a client I love helping them select the perfect pieces.
I began the research process and spent months researching, attending craft fairs and reaching out to hundreds of different businesses throughout Prince George and BC.I selected items from the favourites that I found and started ordering the product.
So many wonderful companies jumped on board and were so supportive through the startup process. Once the product started arriving, I was able to build boxes for
different occasions from the items I was stocking. I started navigating the social media world, now from a business perspective instead of the usual personal lens I was used to viewing it through.
I went for coffee and chatted with other business owners around me to try and determine the best plan of action and to learn the things I was unsure about, from there I launched my business onto social media.
The response has been wonderful so far and I am so thankful for the support I have received!
