Feature Friday: Petit Four Studios

Hello fellow Feature Friday followers! I hope you had a chance to catch last week’s very first Feature Friday but if you didn’t – you can find it here! For those of you new here – Feature Friday is an opportunity for Northern BC Mom’s to share local photographers and the passion and talent that they share with us here in the north!

Meet Andrea. She is the owner of Petit Four Studios and we love her. She is a serious baby whisperer and so much more. Alongside being amazing with her tiny clients, she has began creating a tribe on social where moms can connect and provide support to one another, AND she is a local-maker over at Hats n’ That Boutique making hats in all sizes, styles, and colours. As a mother to six kids, we don’t know how she does it all!

This year I will embrace imperfection! I have been wanting to say this for some time, but it's time to get out of my comfort zone and finally say it. We are bombarded daily with highlights and perfection. Oh there are a few who show it like it is, but on a whole it's about beautiful curated feeds. I feel like I can't compete. I'm not trendy. I don't wear fashion designer clothing or have my home perfectly decorated…and even if it was you wouldn't be able to tell from the chaos. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So this is me…. I love to find a good steal at VV's Boutique (aka Value Village) and at most I own 2 or 3 types of shoes at any given time. I don't buy handbags or get my brows/lashes/nails done…I did however finally spend something on myself and invested in Cinderella extensions, and I LOVE THEM! Thanks Lisa @foreverbeauitfulclinic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I eat like crap and yet have the best cholesterol and blood pressure levels. I eat french fries on a regular basis because french fries are life. And this will be a shocker to many…I DON'T DRINK COFFEE! Nope…can't do it! And wine…gag me with a spoon. My husband says I have the palette of a child and the more that I think about it the more I realize I do. Give me all the chicken fingers!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have 6 kids cause I loved being pregnant so I kept doing it…hahaha! But I love them so much and beyond the chaos they give me such joy. My oldest just turned 20, then 18, 16, 14 and 14 (my daughter by another mother) & 6…four girls and two boys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I suffer from depression and anxiety. I believe in medication as it has saved my sanity…and most likely my family. I've been on meds for about 4 1/2 years now. I tried to go off them, but that ended in disaster! I also have adult diagnosed ADHD, which when I looked back at my 40+ years it all makes sense now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CONTINUED IN THE COMMENTS…

Did you read that caption ^^^^^ ?  If not, scroll back on up (please!).

As if all that wasn’t enough to make her perfect, she is part the Tiny Footprints Project – a non-profit organization that matches the parents of newborn babies living in the NICU with professional photographers willing to capture newborn photos free of charge. I have personally seen many families benefit from this project right here in northern BC, and it makes my heart full to know that there are people there to ensure memories are captured for others to cherish – no matter the circumstances.

…As her journey to today has developed over the last 16 years, her passion has stemmed from Prince George and the amazing people that live within.

“Every family I meet has a story and I love that they trust me enough to share a little bit of it with me. When I edit a family’s session, I sit here smiling, remembering the wonderful time we spent capturing their love.”

But the real why behind Petit Four is the true wonder of children.  “They are who they are with no pretension and it’s a joy to capture them being themselves with their siblings and family.”

When asked to nominate a northern BC photographer, she chose Ashley of Ava Photography. We were so excited because Ashley was actually our very first Feature Friday. Andrea met Ashley through the Tiny Footprints Project but commends her on her growth as a local photographer and her sharp eye for the details. We one hundred and ten percent agree!

When Andrea isn’t busy providing us with memories we can cherish for all of time, or challenging us to overcome negative mom-culture or status-quo, she is kicking back watching Netflix while crocheting. I hope there is a glass of something something (other than coffee and wine apparently!!) close by Andrea! You deserve it!
